The school holidays don’t have quite so much impact on me any more, but September will always be a back to school kinda feeling. A fresh start, ready to see out the last few months of the year.

There are so many things that a Thermomix can do! You’ll learn things in demos and when you first get your machine, but there will always be new things to learn, and things that you forget that are worth being reminded of. So, this month, I’m going to concentrate on the basics and best Thermie secrets. Buckle in, and get ready to learn whether you have the TM6 or TM7.

I also wanted to remind you all about the Flying Foodie community, and what is available for you to be a part of.

When you order your very own Thermomix, you will receive The Simple Ideas Cookbook with it, a hardback book full of useful information on using your machine as well as a range of recipes. With my back-to-basics focus, I wanted to highlight some of my favourite go-to recipes. I don’t want to call them simple recipes, because they’re so much more, but it is about learning the Thermomix basics. All of the recipes can be found on Cookidoo in the Simple Ideas Collection.

The rice cooking function in a Thermomix is oh so helpful, and in the Rice Cooker Brown Rice Salad you can elevate plain rice into an easy and tasty meal. Berry Foam is a firm favourite of many of my owners, and so quick to make! Now the weather has got chillier, a warming bowl of Versatile Smooth Soup could be just the ticket. This is a flexible recipe where you can add in vegetables that you have to hand and make it your own. Another yummy winter warmer is the Puy Lentil and Sausage Casserole. And not forgetting a sweet treat, the Butter Biscuits have just 5 ingredients, and you’ll definitely be onto a winner with them.

Remember, there are some basic supplies that you can make with your Thermomix. When you’re cooking from scratch and want to make sure you’re using the best ingredients, creating your own staples is a must. Here’s a snapshot of just some of the base ingredients you can make:
Self-raising Flour
Icing Sugar
Butter
Vegetable Stock Paste
Garam Masala
